The MikeLite 2 is a battery-operated model that is an excellent choice for stereo microscopes.  It was designed for field work where AC power is unavailable or inconvenient to use. The ML-2 uses 4 AA batteries and will run two Type-L illuminators for 8 hours, producing 20 lumens each of well-collimated white light, about half that of the ML-350-2.  However, the ML-2 has plenty of light for most stereomicroscopic applications.  The ML-2 is small in size (about the size of a deck of cards) and takes up minimal counterspace. We recommend using two 12" Type-L illuminators (Model W12-L1) with the MikeLite 2. Note: MikeLite 2 power source and gooseneck Illuminators are sold separately.

The MikeLite 2.3 is an excellent light for a field microscope where super high intensity is not required. It can be operated in the field with four AA batteries or run in the lab with a 12 volt DC line transformer (included). The ML-2.3 is an excellent power source for the high-powered UV illuminators.
